Day 15 – Proverbs 15

Day 15 – Proverbs 15

“Better is a little with the fear of the Lord, Than great treasure with trouble” Proverbs 15:16

The Advertising industry worldwide is huge. Wherever you look, someone is advertising something. Everything looks so appealing and we just want and want and want… and want. Because of our selfish desires, we seek after great riches to satisfy our fleshly needs.

The quest for great riches can be very ugly. When you watch movies about pirates searching for treasure, you will get a glimpse of the extent that people will go to get what they want. They will even kill, just to advance their wealth.

The desire to selfishly possess is GREED. There is a lot that we want that we don’t really need. Greed is outside of God’s best for us. When Satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness, he offered him all the riches of the world, but Jesus refused because he had the fear of the Lord (Wisdom).

Satan promises us false glory. There is always a price tag attached to his adverts. He gets you to buy the product but after a while you regret that you bought it because of the trouble it gives you. Most famous people long for fame and glory and then when they eventually get it, they want to go back to the simple life they had before because of the stress and misery that comes with “great treasure”

Better is a little with wisdom than great abundance with stress. We should learn to be content with what God has blessed us with and allow His wisdom to dictate our increase. “My God shall supply all your need according to His RICHES in glory by Christ Jesus” Phillipians 4:19 . God understands how to distribute his riches without them destroying us.

“Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a fatted calf with hatred” Proverbs 15:17. We should never get our priorities mixed up. It is so easy to chase after riches that we end up destroying our relationships. Families stop talking to each other because of money. Is it really worth it? It is better to eat herbs and have LOVE than to have everything and lose our precious relationships.

Lets pray…

Heavenly Father, Your word teaches that it is better to have a little with the fear of the lord, than great treasure with trouble. Thank you for keeping us content with all that you provide for us. What does it profit us to gain the whole world but to lose our soul. Help us to realise that Love and Wisdom are more important than wealth and riches. What we need in abundance is not Wealth and Riches but LOVE and WISDOM. Pour out Your Love and Wisdom over us today.

In Jesus name…

Amen
