Day 2 – Proverbs 2
“If you seek wisdom as silver, then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God”
Have you ever looked for wisdom as much as you have for money? I know I haven’t. The main thing on all our mind is trying to make money to survive and improve our lifestyles. But what would we find if we dare to attempt this. God said to Solomon, “Ask of me anything and I will give you.” Solomon didn’t ask for wealth and great riches, instead he asked for wisdom and understanding. God, being pleased with Solomon, not only gave him wisdom and understanding but great riches as well. 1 Kings 3. (A must read)
Perhaps our quest for riches is not as important as our quest for wisdom. If we seek wisdom then we will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. Proverbs 1:7 “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
I have failed many times in advancing in my career because of bad decisions resulting from a lack of knowledge. If I had greater foresight, I would have known what the best decision to make could have been. Being able to access Gods wisdom would be a huge advantage because He will not only help me make the right decision but , He will also put to rest false knowledge I have of God and his ways. Many people don’t really know who God is and just go by the limited knowledge they have of Him. People have said “If God loved me, my business would succeed”. God does love us but we lack wisdom.
Father, thank for wisdom. We ask that you continue to give it to us liberally and without reproach. Help us to seek wisdom more than silver or gold for in doing so we will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. Reveal to us the mysteries in your word so we may grow in Wisdom. Give us wisdom in every area of our life and as we seek you, we ask that you teach us who you really are and not who we think you are. Pour out your wisdom and love over us today.
In Jesus name.
