Day 16 – Proverbs 16
“Pleasant words are like the honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones” Proverbs 16:24
When you walk in to a shop, the chances of spending your money in there is usually determined by the kind of service you get. If the person is pleasant, your experience becomes enjoyable and you are likely to spend more because of the good treatment you received.
It is a pleasure to be around positive, enthusiastic people. They overflow with optimism and joy. Their happy countenance is contagious and your mood gets uplifted instantly when you are in their presence.
Positive people know how to cultivate their attitude. Being cheerful is intentional. It is a choice one has to make everyday. The more you work on choosing to be pleasant, the easier it gets engrained in your character.
THOUGHTFULNESS is the key in communicating PLEASANT WORDS. People who are well-mannered, with great people skills are consciously aware of their words and actions. They carefully consider their tone of voice and body language. They know how to deliver a “sweet” message from the honeycomb and not a “sweet and sour” message from the Chinese takeaway.
Words of encouragement give us hope when we feel like giving up. When someone speaks a pleasant word to you, it can keep you going for days, weeks, or even years. I can still taste the sweetness of words of encouragement I received many years ago. Thats the power of a pleasant word. “A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, and a word spoken in due season, how good it is!” Proverbs 15:23
It is important to make a conscious decision to help others feel special. Most illnesses these days are a result of stress and your PLEASANT WORDS will be “health to their bones”
Father, thank you for Your pleasant Word which brings sweetness to our soul and health to our bones. Give us thoughtful hearts that considers the feelings of people around us. Help us to always be pleasant and to make a conscious decision everyday to be filled with your Joy. Thank you for giving us wisdom and insight in different areas of our lives. By wisdom a house is built and by knowledge it is established. Keep building us up day by day in Your ways so that we may increase in wisdom.
In Jesus name…
