Day 17 – Proverbs 17
“A merry heart does good like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones” Proverbs 17:22
A miracle happened in my life because of this verse. I got set free from allergies, thanks to a dear friend of mine, Dr Michelle Strydom, who explained to me how allergies start and how to get rid of them by applying God’s Word to my life..
In life you will feel hurt and let down. Our deepest hurts usually come from those dear to us. It could be from emotional abuse, verbal abuse, physical abuse or through a traumatic event.
Understanding how spirits get broken and the effect it has on us is very important. We may feel like we have gotten over certain hurts from the past but when we talk about them, we still feel the pain. If that is the case, then you haven’t truly healed.
Deep hurts usually come from people close to us. We expect them to be on our side and that’s why the hurt is so painful. Brushing things under the carpet doesn’t work in resolving the problem of a broken heart. The effect of a broken heart results in a compromised immune system with the example of allergies that I am going to share.
We need to find a way back to a merry heart. That is the way of FORGIVENESS. When we have a broken heart, our bodies release a hormone called Cortisol which slowly damages our immune system. Organs get damaged and our bone marrow begins to dry up. “A broken spirit dries up the bones”.
Here is the science behind it (as simply as I can explain it). The bone marrow is responsible for producing your white blood cells (T and B Cells) which strengthens your immune system. As the marrow dries up, cortisol kills the T-Cells, and your body produces more B-Cells to compensate, which results in excess HISTAMINE being produced in your body because of the imbalance. This is why the doctors prescribe ANTI-HISTAMINES to help with the symptoms of allergies like sniffing, sneezing or itching.
The memory of the hurt keeps your body producing the toxic hormone cortisol until you have truly forgiven the person who broke your heart. New memories of forgiveness replace those hurtful memories and the cortisol stops being released in your body and your heart “does good like medicine” and becomes merry again.
When you truly forgive the person who broke your heart, allergies become a thing of the past. As it did with me.
Heavenly Father, thank you that you have come to heal the broken-hearted. We have carried hurts and disappointments for too long and today we choose to hand over every hurt to You. We choose to forgive …………………….. for hurting us. We release them completely from the deep hurt that was caused. We keep no account of the wrong that was done to us and release a blessing on …………………… Fill them with your love and reveal Your goodness to them.
We speak to our immune system and command the cortisol to stop and the white cells and antibodies to function as they should. Thank you for replacing our broken heart with a merry heart that is totally healed.
In Jesus name…
