Day 21 – Proverbs 21
“The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty surely to poverty” Proverbs 21:5
Intelligent planning takes time. There are no short cuts to a well executed plan of action. Before we do anything, it is so important to carefully map out a clear direction for ourselves so that we know which way to go. An architect is able to look at plans and know how a house will look even before any bricks have been laid.
We must include God in our plans. “Commit your works to the Lord and your plans will be established.” Proverbs 16:3 God was the architect who drew the plans for the earth and the plans for our lives. He knew how they would turn out before they came in to being. We know that He doesn’t cut corners and when He builds, we can be assured that the building goes up and stays up.
To be successful, we must plan EVERYTHING. A business needs a plan, a marriage needs a plan, in sport you need a plan, studying requires a plan, getting fit requires a plan. The diligent consider all the details and weighs out the pros and cons.
Do your research. Consider everything before you respond in a hasty way. It has been said that action is the way to succeed, but it is the “plans of the diligent that lead to plenty”. Once the planning has been completed diligently, then it is time to ACT.
Do we know how our marriage is going to turn out by looking at the PLANS on the table or do we just lay bricks day by day and hope that it will turn in to something great? Are we taking charge of it or are we being tossed to and fro? What about our career? Could we be struggling because we make hasty decisions?
PLANNING may seem boring because we want to get out there and DO, but planning is the way to PLENTY. We must constantly review our plans to make sure that they are still working for us. If they aren’t, then we must go back to the drawing board.
Plans dont have to be complicated. But you do need to consider how you will get to your destination before you embark on your journey. “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?” Luke 14:28
Heavenly Father, thank you that the plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty. We commit our works to you so our plans will be established. Thank you that you are bringing to light the desires that you have placed in us from before the foundation of the earth. You know the plans you have for us, to prosper us and give us a good future. Help us to be detailed in our planning and to consider everything before we just hastily act. Thank you for the blessing of increase as we diligently plan.
In Jesus name…
