Day 26 – Proverbs 26

Day 26 – Proverbs 26

“Like a thorn that goes into the hand of a drunkard, is a proverb in the mouth of fools” Proverbs 26:9

Its easy to spend hours googling inspirational quotes and funny memes and sharing them on facebook. Its good to fill ourselves with positive sayings but too much inspiration can be bad for us “Have you found honey, eat only as much as you need, lest you be filled with it and vomit” Proverbs 25:16

Reading funny memes makes us laugh and uplifting quotes make us feel like we can do anything, however there are times when wise internet sayings are not going to help us. We may have a THORN (problem) that needs to be pulled out. Sometimes what we need is a word spoken to us in TRUTH. If we are failing in a particular area, it is better to address the problem rather than hiding behind cute inspirational sayings.

The prick of a thorn is painful. “Open rebuke is better than love carefully concealed”  “Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful” Proverbs 27:5-6  Kermit the Frog, Winnie the Pooh or Minion quotes are ineffective in getting us out of a pit. The inspirational saying becomes like a “thorn in the hand of a drunkard” They can’t be felt and do nothing for us. Straight to the point HARD TRUTH will deliver us even if it HURTS.

Lets pray…

Father, it is so easy to fill ourselves up with stuff that doesn’t benefit us. We can waste so much time trying to solve our problems by looking for answers on Google when we can easily come to You and you can remove any thorn that we have. Thank you that You correct us because You love us (Proverbs 3:12). Help us not to run away from our problems or sweep real issues under the carpet but to openly bring them before You so they can be dealt with. Allow us to rebuke our friends in love as they rebuke us back, Faithful are the wounds of a friend. Thank You for continuing to pour Your Wisdom over us liberally and without reproach.

In Jesus name…
