My daughter and I spent a lovely time doing her Hello Kitty puzzle. We love doing puzzles and its exciting when the pieces you pick up just connect to nearby ones and slowly the picture begins to take shape. Puzzles get easier as you approach the end and its exciting to put the last piece in, except this time the last piece was missing.
Its quite disheartening when you start something and go quite far, only to discover that something is missing right at the end. Like trying to get a passport and waiting all day in the queue and when you finally get to the front, you are told that you don’t have all the requirements and you have to go home and fetch one more document in order to proceed and come back the next day.
Needless to say, it was quite disappointing not being able to finish the puzzle we really worked hard on. We went to her room and looked by all her other puzzles and couldn’t find it. I really wanted to find the piece for her so she could finish the puzzle and feel satisfied. After more looking, I still could not find it.
We are all like puzzle pieces in whatever sphere of life we are involved in. We all have a role to play and we all join intricately together somehow. If one piece is missing, we can not complete the bigger picture.
Imagine you start a project and do everything possible but fall short at the final hurdle. What if that final piece was wrong or was missing altogether? This got me thinking about our roles in society. What if I was the last piece of someones puzzle and I was missing? What if someones dreams were getting held up because I couldn’t be found? What if they had done all they could to get to their destination and I was holding them up?
What piece of the puzzle are you?
There are things in life that we need others for. When a child is born, a doctor is needed to complete the delivery of the baby. We need the help of teachers, lawyers, construction workers and so on. Without them we wouldn’t have good health care, law, building, roads and everything that contributes to a functional society. Everyone needs to function in the specific role that they are gifted to which ultimately benefits the community at large.
Self doubt causes us to become the missing piece. We believe that we couldn’t possibly be used to achieve anything important. We hide our skills and yet the world is desperately looking for it.
Phillipians 2:13 “For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” Allow God to work in you and be the piece of the puzzle that everyone is waiting to find.
“For the earnest expectation of creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God” Romans 8:19 There are many people that will begin to find their place the minute we decide to stop playing it small and take our place. Once we clip in, it becomes easier for those around us to find their place.
Begin to see yourself as someone of value. Someone that is part of something greater than yourself. Alone, you may look like random colors, but together, you turn into a beautiful masterpiece! Find that missing piece and put it in!
